Early adopters of cryptocurrencies were not using the decentralised financial instruments to pay for their Netflix subscription. Or to send money to their favourite puppy charity. No, many early adopters of cryptocurrencies used them for dubious acts, such as buying drugs from the Silk Road, or paying for services or images which are universally considered illegal and unethical. This means that many of those who have benefited most from crypto were early adopters using the currency out of necessity to pay for things not allowed to be paid for through regulated financial institutions. But since Bitcoin became more mainstream, and brought the rest of the world of cryptocurrencies with it, the use of blockchain technologies have become less nefarious. And as the world of DeFi rapidly grows and enters the mass market, government and regulatory bodies aim to clamp down on all aspects of cryptocurrencies, from the tokens, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, to NFTs traded on their blockchains....
