Crypto Exchange Coinbase Secures Registration From Netherlands' Central Bank - CoinDesk

Coinbase (COIN), the largest U.S. cryptocurrency exchange, won a regulatory approval from the Dutch central bank that will eventually give it the ability to offer services in the entire European Union.
Coinbase became the first major crypto exchange to win registration in the Netherlands from De Nederlandsche Bank, the firm said Thursday. Initially, this will give Coinbase permission to offer crypto products to consumers and businesses in the country. It is not, however, the first crypto exchange. Bitstamp was registered in the Netherlands in April 2021.
But once the EU's Market in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulation comes into force, that will expand to the other 26 EU nations. The EU finalized the full text of that legislation this week. Registration or licensing applications are underway in several other major markets, Coinbase said.
