For big investors who want to understand macro market moves, knowing about what’s happening with digital assets is no longer optional, according to Dave Olsen, president and chief investment officer of Jump Trading Group.
Cryptocurrency markets are becoming ever more intertwined with traditional markets, Mr. Olsen said, comparing this process to how established markets such as equities, debt and options became more integrated with each other in past decades.
"For institutional investors... not having a stake and the analytics capabilities to understand what's happening in the crypto market is going to become a bigger and bigger blind spot," Mr. Olsen said during a Monday panel discussion at the SALT hedge-fund conference in New York.
