Reno among first U.S. cities to experiment with blockchain, launching pilot project - FoxReno.com

The city of Reno will soon become one of the first U.S. cities to experiment with blockchain, launching a pilot project where the city's historic registry will be transitioned to a blockchain-backed platform.
The portal, which the city has dubbed the Biggest Little Blockchain, will allow both the public and city staff to access historic registry records that 'cannot be lost or changed, providing increased government accountability to the public,' according to the city.
City leaders say it is the first city-run and resident-focused blockchain platform in the United States. Cities such as Cook County, Illinois have put property deed records on the blockchain.
The application was built by BlockApps, a Brooklyn-based blockchain company, and is free to the city. It is not connected to Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.
